Why sunrooms overheat

A conventional room has maybe 10–15% of its wall area in glass. A sunroom can be 70% or more, often including glass overhead. Every square foot of that is a solar collector. There is no HVAC fix that competes with reducing the load at the source, which is why film is usually the first thing an experienced installer recommends.

Hard-to-cover glass

Arched windows, two-story foyer glass, transoms and skylights are the openings where blinds and shades either don't exist or get very expensive. Film handles all of them because it's cut to the shape of the glass. On some exterior-facing or specialty glazing where interior film isn't appropriate, exterior-grade films are an option.

Getting the specification right

Sunroom glazing varies widely — single pane, insulated, tempered, sometimes with an existing coating. Some combinations of dark film and specific glass types raise thermal stress risk. We evaluate the actual glass on site and specify a film that's appropriate for it, which is a large part of what you're paying an authorized dealer for.
